Captain Lethargy and Fapto.

Captain Lethargy is the stage name of the musician Keith Grindley. It has also been adopted for his artwork, songwriting and producing.

He started playing in the local folk clubs and progressed to The Troubador in London.

Here he met many people who were to help him or influence him into the experimental and traditional meld of music, people such as Daevid Allen, Kevin Ayers and Sandy Denny who were to help him in so many different ways.

He played in quite a few bands, experimental and traditional rock, The London Music Collective, The Lemmings, Gary Millers Obsession and with old friend Kevin Ayers, he briefly joined the Soporifics. He confounded the band ”U Lucky Gringos” which was made up of any musician who was free to play that day. The band had a hard core of John Dobbs, Banjo and Occasional Guitar, Keith usually solo rhythm guitar, Chris Goldstone slide guitar, Lawrie Bolton accordion and Terry Walke harmonica. They always played gigs for Cancer Relief charity or a free pint of lager! They specialised in bluegrass, with the odd rock song played in bluegrass style. Their version of Paranoid, the Black Sabbath classic, complete with backstory of how Sabbath changed from bluegrass to rock drew lots of fans into asking where they .could get a copy of Sabbaths original.

Keith and Lawrie Boulton had a very successful duo called Beatroute which played in East Kent. They were also the core of Gary Millers Obsession, along with Dave Neil, Suzi Quattro’s regular drummer. Lawrie was reputed to have “the best left hand in music”
